We arrived in Germany Wednesday, July 15 around 11 a.m. The flight over wasn't quite as smooth as I had hoped for. Ava was awfully cranky from SLC to Chicago. She finally calmed down as I stood with her in the back of the plane and bounced. To make matters worse, my head felt like it was about to explode. I came down with a sinus cold the day before we were scheduled to fly. The second leg of our flight went a little bit better and the kids ended up sleeping towards the end of the flight.
Gratefully, our sponsor came through and was waiting outside of baggage claim to pick up our little family of 5, 8 humongo bags, 3 car seats, a stroller, and a partridge in a pear tree. We were quite the spectacle to behold. I only wish I had the forthought to take a picture of our little entourage.
Off to the hotel we went to check in and all I wanted to do was go to bed. Not quite as easily done when you have three kids. Kevin went off straight away to in-process and the kids and I hung out in the room. I was in a cold medeicine induced coma haze and could hardly function. Thank goodness for t.v. and the family channel. My kids were in heaven watching t.v. the entire afternoon. I can't remember the last time we watched hours and hours worth of t.v. Every once in awhile I would crash only to be woken up with, "He took the remote" or "I want a drink" or "She's bugging me".
The military hotel where we are staying has their own little compound. It is gated off from the rest of Weisbaden and is a couple of blocks from base. With three little kids, a sinus cold, and no sense of direction, it may have as well been 3 miles from base. Truth be told, I really don't feel well enough to leave the room.
Fast forward to today (Friday). We were suppose to drive down to Landstuhl for Kevin's promotion ceremony....that's right...........soon to be MAJOR Parker. Ava was up last night off and on all night with a fever. This morning she got up to 104 degrees and has started vomiting. I just didn't feel good about taking her with such a high temp, not to mention that I still feel pretty yucky. So I'm missing the ceremony, and Lauren and Ava and I are staying yet again in the hotel to watch t.v. all day. Please pray for us that we can recover quickly and find a home soon.

Oh man. I will be praying for you. It will get better. It has too.
everything always gets all sloppy and messy in the middle of a move. i hate that part but i HAVE found, it's times like those that our family sticks the closest together and i DO love that. u'll look back on those times (when we all slept on the floor of an empty house for 7 days, etc...) and smile and remember how "fun" it was.
good luck my dear! and congrats Major!

Oh, that is the worst possible start for your new life in Germany.... but things just have to get better, right? :) Hopefully (fingers crossed) the worst is behind you and now you can just sail through the next little while! We're praying for you constantly and we miss you like crazy!
Good luck with the chaos of moving to Germany. I hope it is easier the second time around! I remember how stressed I was about finding a house and taking the driving test. We will keep you in our prayers to feel better.
Oh my Marnie, what a time your little family has had with your trip over.
Our congratulations to Kevin and you and the sick kids are in our prayers.
Oh Marnie you poor thing. I haven't kept up on blogs lately either (since we have moved too - although not nearly such an ordeal!) so I didn't know you were so sick until now. I'm glad you are all feeling better. Thank goodness for tv on days like those though!!
