The Magic Time Machine

Our friend David C. was in town to defend his thesis this past weekend. He had Saturday evening free so we decided to go out to dinner. When they heard that Dave was going to be in Dallas, our other good friends The Hrabars came down from Witchita Falls to celebrate with us. We were all stationed in Germany together a few years ago.

We decided to eat at The Magic Time Machine in Addison. What a great little restaurant! Don't let the smell of mothballs deter you upon entering. The Dallas location is housed in a very old, funky building with antique furniture. I'd recommend going early on the weekend, as they don't take reservations Friday-Sunday. We arrived at 4:30 p.m. and were seated immediately.

This steakhouse features a wait staff dressed up as storybook, cartoon, entertainment and historical characters to entertain and serve you. The character-driven theme of this restaurant creates a very colorful eating atmosphere. You may find yourself ordering your meal from an Elvis impersonator, Hercules, Tinker Bell, Joe Dirt, Henry VIII, Hannah Montana, Cinderella among other characters. Enjoy a good meal while you watch the uniquely dressed wait staff parade by your table.

The atmosphere was awesome. The booths were also decorated in theme. One booth was the "Great Pumpkin" from the popular Charlie Brown Halloween show. Another was an actual school bus. Others included: a tee pee, Mexican themed, Italian themed, space themed, a box of crayons, etc.

The Magic Time Machine is very kid friendly, and they even offer magic shows and face painting for an additional fee. My kids' favorite part of the experience was walking around after dinner and getting autographs from all of the characters in an autograph book that was provided at the table.

The kiddos.

A very happy David.

Our server was Captain Jack Sparrow. Maddie was thrilled and wore her "Future Wife of Jack Sparrow" t-shirt just in case she saw him. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We actually split a kids meal between the three of our children. Each entree receives unlimited trips to the salad bar. A little pricey- but definitely fun for every once in awhile.

Looks like a very neat place! Do you remember that resteraunt in Portland you guys took us too? The one with the bathroom that looked like you were under a dock and it ended up being one of those "unforgettable" experiences?! LOL! That was fun anyhow. I miss you guys!

The restaurant looks neat! That pic of David is hilarious. Maybe he was so happy to be almost done with his research and the residency program forever.
