Eating Oysters

At one of the clinics I work, our attending (Dr. Shah) has a longstanding tradition that the last day a 2nd-year resident is in that clinic, she takes everyone to lunch. For my last day, it was decided that we would be eating oysters (not my idea by the way). I have never tried them before, but everyone went on and on about how great they were. I decided to give them a try.

The reality of eating oysters is that one covers up the taste with so much lemon juice, hot sauce, cocktail sauce, and crackers that you can’t really taste the oyster.

It worked and they weren’t half bad. However, I am not saying that I would like to have them again any time soon.

AS long as the taste is completely obscured by other things, I'm sure I wouldn't mind oysters either! :)

You are more daring the I am. I've never even wanted to try them and I'm a pretty adventurous when it comes to trying new foods. Something about the slimmy texture...yuck!

I'm pretty sure I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. I don't think I could do it...the smell alone does me in. Kudos to ya Kev! You're a lot braver than I! :)

It's true. I always claim to love eating oysters, but I think I would actually like hot sauce and horseradish on crackers just as much.
