I want to be real. When we are real, we give others permission to be who they truly are. Real people have bad days sometimes. Real people on occasion let their children watch more than 1 hour of television a day. Real people sometimes eat cold cereal for dinner and secretly bask in the joy of not having a kitchenful of dishes to wash afterwards. Real people sometimes polish off an entire pint of ice cream at 7:00 a.m. (don't they?) Real people have been known to wear their pajamas all day once in awhile. Real people also sometimes stay up all night long totally immersed in a great book only to suddenly realize that everyone else will be waking up in two hours. Real people sometimes pretend to be asleep-- especially when their oldest child wakes them up at 5 a.m. every morning. Real people sometimes can't remember the last time they cleaned the bathroom. Real people sometimes pretend not to notice when their one-year old is eating Cherios off the floor. Real people laugh, cry, love, rejoice, and live.
So what is a blog? I want my blog to be real. I want it to be an accurate account of the thoughts and feelings and events of all the people in my life. Life is beautiful, and I generally truly try to be upbeat and have a positive outlook on life. I have been blessed with more than I ever thought possible. However, we need to be real to support each other, so....beware! In this blog, you will read things that will make you laugh until you cry, that will make you turn your head in disgust, that will make you wonder if anyone in my home is sane. The answer to the afore mentioned is YES; but we are real people, living a real life, and loving every minute of it.

AMEN! I have sometimes worried that my writing will make people think I am A) a total complainer B) lazy C) INSANE. :)
But it is how I feel...how life goes...and it's nice to know that sometimes someone else feels that same way.
Thanks for your thoughts...made my day!
OH! And, I would love to talk camera stuff with your husband...my email is hollowayfam(at)yahoo(dot)com...could he drop me a line and I can hopefully figure out this camera craziness!?!
I must be a real person too, but I totally relate to that bathroom line! It is nice to see you blogging! I jsut wish my connection was faster so I could see all your pics faster! ---Heather
Amen, sistah! I am one of those real people too! And I can hear it all! BTW, do you ever read my blog because I have never had a comment from you.

Hi Marnie,
Your blog looks fantastic already! I love the pictures. Kevin is so good. And your kids are adorable, of course, which makes for incredible shots. Kade's comment about Lauren being a "rock star" is too cute.
I loved this post about being real--I could relate to every thing you mentioned! I'm glad I'm not the only one who pretends to be asleep when the kids are crying or loving an easy clean-up after a simple dinner.
I loving being real. I totally enjoyed this post and feel a special connection because I wrote a post entitled the same thing a month ago.
I am enjoying your blog and your cute family and your realness.....
I totally just got tears in my eyes from reading this. I don't know if it was because I was laughing or just feeling like there are others like me. Here's my real moment from today. I try to pretend like I didn't see Layton take another cupcake off the counter and eat it in the pantry! Keep it coming.
Marn, I've decided that you really have a gift for writing. I get excited to see what your next post will be. You're amazing! I can't wait to see you! LOVE YOU
Marnie, that was really touching. I absolutely agree with everything! I was laughing too at your list of what"real people" are...I'm definitely real!:)
