Ward Christmas Party

We had a lovely ward Christmas dinner and talent night. Our family was involved with two performances and so little Ava was passed off to many willing hands that night. Thank goodness for friends who were willing to help and a friendly little Ava who loves attention.

There was even an a special appearance by the "Big Man" himself......

Ava didn't cry; but she was quite perplexed by the facial hair and not about to let go of her yogurt puffs for anyone or anything.

Lauren was thrilled to tell Santa all about the riding pony that she hoped he would bring her. She and I compromised on a rocking horse instead of a real pony. Phew....

And our handsome Kaden who informed me that he knew how it worked. That this was only "Santa's Helper" and that the REAL Santa was busy at the North Pole.

Lauren's ballet class performed for the entertainment portion of the party. The girls were adorable and often looked to the right to mimic their ballet teacher Miss Melissa. We moms got together to make the tutus a few weeks ago, and I made the hair accessories for the girls. We were going for an "Ice Princess" theme.

I pirated the video below off my friend Aubrey's blog since I didn't have a chance to take video that night. Thanks Aubrey and Jared!

In my opinion, the best talent that night was from the 1997 Arizona State YoYo Champion, who also happens to be my handsome husband. He dazzled the crowd with is two-handed yoyo tricks and super suave moves all the while rocking to "Stayin' Alive". I wish I had a picture to post, but you'll just have to form your own mental image.

Funny story about Kevin and his yoyos. When we first started dating, he didn't tell me about this unusual talent. I think he was afraid that I would dump him after I learned of his unique skills. If you ask him, he will claim that he didn't want me to love him for his yoyos. We were practically engaged before I learned the truth. Seriously though, he is amazing and paid for our fabulous honeymoon to the the Bahamas by preforming at elementary school assemblies.

I thought about recording Kevin's yoyo performance, but to be fair, I had no idea in advance that he was 1997 Arizona State YoYo champion. After he was about 30 seconds in I regretted putting the camera away, but it was too late at that point.
