Applesauce Cinnamon Ornaments

We decided to try something different this year from our traditional gingerbread boys and girls Christmas ornaments. My friend Heather blogged about applesauce cinnamon ornaments and we thought we would give them a try as well. They are super easy.

The Ingredients:
1 cup cinnamon
1 cup applesauce
Mix together ingredients together. Roll dough between two pieces of wax paper and use cookie cutter for desired shape. We used a straw to punch a hole at the top to loop a ribbon through for hanging. Allow 48 hours to air dry.

We soon gave up on mixing with the spoon because....

mixing with our hands was so much more fun!

Make sure to roll out your dough between two pieces of wax paper, or the mixture will stick to your rolling pin or surface.

Lauren loved to help me cut out the ornaments with cookies cutters while Kaden decorated and enhanced the ornaments.

The finished product! We doubled the recipe and it yeilded 24 ornaments. It takes about 48 hours for them to air dry and I turned them after the first 24 hours. Thread ribbon or cording through the hole and hang on your tree. Bask in the yummy cinnamoniness all month long!

So do you eat these? I think it would be a great activity for school.

I would say "Eat at your own risk". Kaden did tell me that the dough tasted pretty nasty, and Ava didn't seem to enjoy the few that she tried off the tree. :)
